- Odd! I have run '95 since November of 1994 (back during the EARLY BETA days)
- and have had a grand total of THREE major crashes (and only ONE of those was
- the fault of Windows 95 itself) since. There are buggy applications (one of
- the most bug-ridden in my experience was Netscape Navigator 2.0) and there
- are relatively bug-free applications (here is a surprising factoid: NO
- version of Internet Explorer has EVER crashed on me, and I was a beta-tester
- of THAT!)

- I take it you run a Macintosh? Here's an item from the Macs Are Better
- (NOT!) File:
-
- My ex-girlfriend owns a Mac (specifically a Mac IIsx). For reasons unknown,
- her hard disk crashed COMPLETELY while the system had been switched OFF (in
- short, the system WAS NOT IN USE). It had been working fine when she had
- previously shut it down; but, several days later, NADA. She does NOT own a
- modem, or trade files with other Mac owners. She had to completely reinstall
- MacOS.
-
- Whereas when something takes Windows (or DOS) down, I usually know (or have a
- suspiscion) what brought it down. I simply do not HAVE crashes due to "cause
- unknown".
-
- Amigas have ALSO shown a disturbing propensity to crash due to "causes
- unknown".
-
- Same old IBM crap? I have OWNED (as opposed to using corporate or
- government) both a 386SX-16 and a 386DX-40. Between them, I have owned five
- modems, two sound cards, two CD-ROM drives, three video cards, three hard
- drives, and two different sizes of SIMMs. (The SX-16, which I originally
- bought new in 1989, was upgraded to my current DX-40 motherboard and
- minitower case in 1993.) In all that time (seven years) I have had TWO
- components fail: one CD-ROM drive and one video card; and both failed after
- two years of hard use by me. (In fact, the CD-ROM drive had been BOUGHT
- used!) Every previous modem that I have owned is still in use today (a 2400
- and three different V.32bis faxmodems; the V.FC external modem I have now I
- bought used in March of 1995). The original 4 1 MB 1x9 70 ns SIMMs that
- came with my 386DX-40 motherboard are still installed and still in use (in
- fact, they have been joined by four 1x3 70 ns SIMMs which I installed in June
- of 1995).

- >Also hear so much about how Ibm has finally passed the Amiga? They still
- >can't get the computer to run decent and they have passed the Amiga?
-
- When an IBM fails, there usually is a known (or at least knowable) cause for
- the failure, when an Amiga fails, the cause can even be a mystery to Tech
- Support.

- >Also when the next generation of intel chips come out, p6, Windows 95 will
- >run 15% slower than it does on p5 chips. That is really something to look
- >forward to.. Things getting slower with faster chips.. IBM's are so cool,
- >NOT!
-
- However, there is Windows NT Workstation, which runs most Windows 95 programs
- (even most Windows 95 GAMES) and which runs MUCH faster on the PentiumPro
- than the standard Pentium. Also, what is it about System 7.5, that requires
- MORE RAM on a PowerMac than on a STANDARD Mac? In addition: WHERE IS THE
- AMIGA TODAY?
